Gifts for Blokes founder Heather Winchcomb says shes sees the downturn as an opportunity to plan ahead for growth.
“In these tough economic times, we could have scrapped the introduction of the rewards program or put it off to a later date, but we felt that it was an important business decision to continue moving forward with our plans to further develop and evolve the Gifts for Blokes brand," Heather said.
Launched on April 1, 2009, the "g4b" rewards program was initiated as a way of thanking loyal Gifts for Blokes customers and to “give something back”. g4b rewards gives shoppers the opportunity to save money over time when they purchase products through the Gifts for Blokes online store.
"We firmly believe that failure to push on with your marketing strategies in these tough times could break a small business," says Heather. "While it can be at times, a tough and tight call, it is a call that you need to make.“
The g4b program was launched in conjunction with another initiative, “BonusBuys”. The promotions work hand in hand to deliver value to shoppers when they shop online with Gifts for Blokes.
“With all the doom and gloom talk at the moment, you really need to think outside the box and don’t just sit and wait, you really need to innovate,” Heather says. “You need to step back and put yourself in your customers' shoes, and think about how to show them that you appreciate their continued custom and enhance their online shopping experience.”
