So how did December get here so quickly?

Last Christmas doesn't seem that long ago, does it?

With Christmas not too far away, if you still need to grab a few Christmas presents there is still time. And if you are a bit short on ideas a number of new gifts have just arrived.

Plus with Christmas parties now in full swing and often being faced with the challenge of taking a salad to a celebration, we have some yummy Summer salad recipes.

But most of all I would like to take this opporutniy to wish you a very merry Christmas and a wonderful 2012. And if you are out and about over the Christmas break take care on the roads. Hope you have a great christmas break.

Lots of winners from the last couple of book comps, we had so many entries, that it took us a while to get through them all and to select the winners - but we go there!

Orders are being posted out on schedule, so if you place an order before 9am (AEDST - Monday to Friday) it will be posted out that same day.

Orders placed after 9am are posted out next business day.

All parcels are sent via Australia Post e-parcel and we will email you a tracking ID for your parcel once it has been dispatched from Gifts for Blokes, so that you can check on its progress.

We also have introduced Express Post at the flat rate of $12.95, ideal for those last minute gifts, but please note, Express Post is only overnight to capital & some major cities. Areas outside the Express Post network, may take a couple of days...

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and hope that you have a relaxing break over the Christmas period.

Its officially Summer, although today in Melbourne it doesn't quite feel like it. But with Summer comes festivities and outdoor entertaining and this can mean salads. We have put together 2 salad suggestions that might help you when it comes to making your next salad.

• Roast Pumpkin Salad - cube pumpkin into bite sizes pieces, toss in olive oil & garlic, roast in your oven until brown and just soft. Allow to cool.
  
  In a salad bowl toss together some thinly sliced red onions, washed baby spinach leaves, cubed feta cheese, cracked black pepper and either some pinenuts or some mixed nuts for salads (Lucky Brand do a mix of nuts for salads) or some cashews . Toss in the cooled pumpkin, a small dash of olive oil and a splash of balsamic vinegar to taste. Toss all together and serve.


• Green Bean Salad - blanch or steam some green beans. In a separate salad bowl, mix together some halved cherry tomatoes, thinly sliced red onions, cracked black pepper.
  
  Allow your beans to cool slightly and add them to the tomato mix while they are just warm, add a splash of balsamic vinegar and toss, great served slightly warm or cold.
  
  Instead of green beans try this with asparagus or use a mixture of asparagus & green beans!

There are no quantities in the above as sometimes you need a salad for a small gathering and sometimes a large group, so both these salads can be easily adapted to suit your own taste, e.g. some people like more or less pumpkin - or to suit the size of your gathering. Enjoy!
